Charon waits upon the banks of the River Styx. Expecting coins to pay for his ferryman's tricks. But the shores of Hades remain empty and bare. For the souls of the dying never truly arrive there.
As the final seconds fall, chemicals flood the brain. Endorphins and glutamate break the mortal chain. Time slows to fractions, like Achilles and the tortoise's race. An endless loop of chronons suspended in space.
